Easy & Delicious ideas for Tofu

One of the common misperceptions about tofu is that it is a bland and flavorless food. While tofu does have a very delicate taste to it, one can find an endless variety of ways to prepare tofu in dishes that will have it bursting with flavor. Tofu covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all the snacks in between!

 
Breakfast Idea for Tofu
-          Tofu Scramble is a popular dish that is similar to scrambled eggs. You can slice the tofu into small cubes and then crumble it with a fork. Sautee with onion and pepper for about seven minutes, and stir regularly to keep the tofu from sticking. Add your choice of seasoning as well. You can also add other vegetables to the mix. Spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms are great. You can eat it as is or wrap it in a flour or wheat tortilla. How about this great Chard and Onion Omelet?. Lunch Idea for Tofu
-          Tacos are a great and simple lunch idea, and you can finally make them healthy by using tofu. Simply crumble the tofu into a skillet, add a bit of oil and then add taco seasoning and water. Cook for about ten minutes, and then prepare the taco shell with all of the usual trimmings: beans, lettuce, tomato, etc. Also, try this Smoked Tofu BLT, with some Fast Green Iced Tea w/Lemon & Honey.  Dinner Idea for Tofu
-          Chili tastes great with tofu, and it is a lot better for you than using red meat. Sautee peppers, onion, garlic, and crumbled or cubed tofu, then add to a pot with the kidney beans, tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes and any other veggie you like and then season to taste. Tofu Dessert
-          Cake is also made healthier (at least a little) by incorporating tofu. When using a store bought cake mix, simply replace the oil and eggs with a block of tofu. This cuts out the fat and cholesterol, adds protein, and makes for a tasty treat. Or you could add some small chilled cubes or slices of tofu to this yummy fruit kabob recipe.
 
 Simple Tofu Snack
-          Everyone loves to snack, and thankfully, you can find some good tasting, good for you, and easy to make tofu snacks. A popular snack is simply taking cubes or slices of firm tofu (tofu that has been previously frozen works wonders here) and dipping it into low calorie dressing, or even low fat yogurt. You get to satisfy your snack craving and still eat right – the best of both worlds. For something a little more crunchy and substantive, these Spring Rolls are great!
